This week in math we learned all about grams and how to compare weights in grams. We also began our money unit and explored different types of coins! We went onto the U.S. Mint website on the interactive whiteboard to get more information.
Students had the opportunity to both see a puppet show and attend a puppet workshop. They got to learn about how puppets are made and got to be puppeteers!
In science, we learned a lot about small solids. Students were shocked when they found out that solids could actually pour! We experimented with small solids and also learned how to use a screen to separate them. We learned some great teamwork strategies though this also!
In literacy, most students began a new book for guided reading. In writing, we have been still working on opinion pieces and how to support our opinions. We learned that we need to provide reasons and examples for our opinions and later, restate our opinions. Miss Denko is working on trying to convince students to read the book Calvin Can't Fly: The Story of a Bookworm Birdie. I think it is working :-).
