Today in math we learned how to combine shapes to make figures! Students loved working with the pattern blocks. One of my students said to me: "Miss Denko, your lessons are so fun!" That made my day!! Take a look at my student's figures!! Some even created much bigger shapes using a lot of small shapes. Students worked in pairs and recorded the number of different shapes that their partner used in their figures.
In science, we explored our new science kit even more!! Students were given 7 different solids and were asked to observe them. We later learned that the word to describe solids is called a "property". We then identified the different properties of the solids that we observed today.
In writing workshop, we learned how to edit and revise our realistic fiction stories. Students worked in pairs and were editors of each other's stories.
We did close reading once again in reading workshop.
